The head of the Department of Production Supervision and Quality Control of the Iran National Medical Device Directorate announced that depending on the geographical area of the production site, companies can apply for the mask manufacturing license and the relevant IRC code through medical universities across the country as usual.
Jamal Tavalli said: "Given that the country currently has the potential to produce a variety of protective masks, and improving the quality of mask products is also of particular importance, To organize and improve the quality of mask production, The self-declaration request of all production units that announced their readiness was examined."
He noted: "According to the decision of the Corona Headquarters, companies applying for the production of masks can apply for the mask manufacturing license and the relevant IRC code through the universities of medical sciences throughout the country, according to the usual procedure, depending on the geographical area of the place of production."
Tavalli reminded that the producers that have completed the self-declaration form so far and have a tracking code that can be displayed on the site are obliged to comply with the relevant health rules and instructions. They are inspected by inspectors from medical universities across the country and selected inspection companies. In case of non-compliance with the declared criteria, while removing the relevant tracking code from the IMED, the producer will also be dealt with legally. The process and timing of obtaining the manufacturing license approval and the IRC code for companies with a mask self-declaration tracking code will be announced later. He finally added that any sale of masks to diagnostic and treatment units is allowed only by manufacturers with IRC code.
Due to the epidemic conditions of the Coronavirus and the growing need for various types of protective masks by multiple groups of people and medical staff, a large number of those are currently produced in the country and by domestic companies. Measures taken by the governmental offices, such as inspection, supervision of the production process of masks and requiring production units to obtain a license to manufacture masks and IRC code, is a positive process that leads to the supply of high quality and standard masks in the market.
